Kindermusik Stories - They say the funniest things!

During a class while participating in a "call and response" exercise we listened to the words "Daddy likes Tacos".

Keenan became very excited and repeated "Daddy likes Tadpoles"...! :-)

We were learning about Crescendo (gradually louder) and Decrescendo (gradually quieter) and I asked the class what the musical word was for quieter. Russel very excitedly yelled "De Crash Window!" :-)

I held up a picture of a vibrophone for the first time in class. No one knew what it was, but Lily, full of confidence spoke up and said "Its a violin phone!" :-)

We were singing "Muffin Man" from the Jazz Kitchen curriculum, and Tarin got excited and said: " I know where the Muffin Man lives, he lives in Swan Lake...!" :-) Precious...!

I told the class that it was time to listen carefully. You could hear the story as well as background music.

David pondered this for a moment then brightened up and said "I can use my other ear!" :-)

Cade was very proud of the fact that he had learnt to put his rhythm sticks in the "rest" position. Being pleased as punch one day, he blurted out "Teacher, my sticks are relaxing!" :-)

When asked "What is Duple Meter?" Arzhel confidently and emphatically yelled "It's a big rock!" :-)

Brenan is a little boy in one of my schools. One particular Friday during the Kindermusik class, he inched his way until he was right next to me. He proceeded to press a few of the buttons on the side of my jeans. In confusion and with big innocent eyes he looked up at me and said: "You doesn't work!" At the time I did not know that he had recently watched a movie on robots. This reallly made me laugh out loud :-)

I have twins in my studio in the "Our Time" class and on one particiular day when I played Sonata in F minor (the relaxation and quiet time piece) , their mom told me a story...

The other night the girls were eating their supper, but when they heard Sonata in F minor, they immediately put down their food, climbed off their chairs and went to "sleep" on the floor. When the song was over, they promptly got up again and continued eating. :-)

There is a little girl in one of my schools, her name is Hannah. I think her "love language" must be "quality time" because in the middle of an activity in class - during our "ABC Animals a dancing" we were listening sounds that a little mouse makes and I had my fluffy toy mouse there, too. She kept inching her way closer until she was about a nose lenth away from me. She looked up at me in all sincerity with big eyes and said with all the conviciton her little heart could muster, she said "my daddy bought a computer and a mouse..!". :-)

Little Joshua was listening to pig sounds on ABC Animals a dancing and when I asked him why the pig made a grunting sound, he said "because its a male female!" :-)

This REALLY touched me...

The other day we were in the middle of a class and little Tarin said something. I did not hear her and I asked her to repeat herself. As she opened her mouth to speak, another child interupted her. I told him to wait and turned my attention back to Tarin. She attempted for the third time to say something and was interupted again. The fourth time, when she had the floor she very boldly said: "I love you."

Thank you Tarin. I love you more..!
